Pretty Polish Tag

I was trolling checking out You Tube and came across the Pretty Polish Tag on Evebelievebeauty & Lindsay Does Nails (check them out).  I thought I would give it a shot 'blog style' :)

1. When it comes to colors, are you conservative or hot mama?

I love all colours, nail art and of course glitter, so I guess I am a hot mama B-)

2. Are you a drug store junkie or high end diva?

I love a 'good' polish regardless of price and if I can find a deal, all the better.  But, sometimes you get what you pay for...you know what I mean?

3. What's your All time favorite polish to date?

This is next to impossible for me, but because I am thinking summer please I love Mint Candy Apple by Essie and for my toes China Glaze's Flop Flop Fantasy.

Right now my favourite is Payton by Zoya!

4. What's the most you've ever paid for a polish? Least?

Kozmic Colour from Dollarama for $1.00.

Deborah Lippman's Let's Go Crazy $20.00.

5. Would you consider yourself a pro painter or just an amateur?

I don't think I am a pro, but I'm not really an amateur...I don't know :|

6. What's your biggest polish pet peeve?

Nasty looking cuticles!!  Lately I have been obsessed with cuticle products.  My current favourite is Lush's Lemony Flutter.

7. What's more important...top coat or base coat?

Base coat...without a good base you won't have a good mani, IMO  But I always wear top coat :) These are the current base coats I am using.

8. Nail art- love it or leave it?

LOVE IT...I may not be an expert, but I try and always have fun with it!

9. If you could design a polish, what would you name it and what would it look like?

I would name it Halley's Comet - my daughter's name is Hailey :x  Strangely enough it would look very similar to Zoya's Payton, but lighter purple.

10. Share your best tip for the perfect manicure.

Cleaning up your cuticles.  I use acetone and an stiff eyeliner brush!

I tag everyone :)

Picture Polish's Orbit

Orbit is a navy blue (leaning towards purple) polish with silver glitter.  It is a dream to work with and the dry time is very quick!  You could probably get away with one coat, but I applied 2.

This is truly one of my favourite polishes.

Nubar's Dark Wash Jeans

Dark Wash Jeans is actually the colour of dark wash jeans ;)  It is a medium-dark blue creme that applied very nicely in 2 coats.  It is part of the 2011 Nubar Jeans collection.

Please ignore the cat hair on my index :-S

I thought it was such a 'jeans' colour I used it in a nail art challenge under a white polish to create a washed out effect!

I need to pay closer attention to Nubar because they are great polishes!

Jelly Sandwich !!

Here is a jelly sandwich with Sinful Color's I Miss You & Sinful Shine's Go Glossy.  Sinful Colors are difficult to find in my area, so I was thrilled when my friend Jaime 'The Polish Butterfly' sent me some when we did a swap last year :D

I Miss You is a jelly based polish with small silver and purple glitter.  Go Glossy is a gorgeous fuchsia crelly. With both of these polishes being sheer I thought a jelly sandwich would be perfect...not a bad combo ;)

I wish Sinful Colors were more readily available in Canada.

Color Club's The Uptown !

The Uptown is a purple jelly based multi-coloured flakie polish.  I think you could achieve opacity, or close to opacity, but I put it on top of China Glaze's Scandalous Shenanigans, a beautiful sapphire blue. I love the effect of of this flakie.

This is the only polish I picked up from the 2013 Fall Girl About Town collection...the remaining ones never really caught my eye.

Essie's Cashmere Bathrobe

Cashmere Bathrobe is part of the Fall 2013 For The Twill Of It collection.  It is a beautiful gray creme with with shimmer, which makes it interestingly different.  The formula was great, it was opaque with 2 coats.

What a great grey creme to have on hand.

OPI's French Quarter for Your Thoughts

French Quarter for Your Thoughts is part of the 2011 Fall Touring collection.  It is a grey creme but also has a green/brown look.  The formula was great...with 1 coat I achieved opacity and it looked grey, but of course I always apply 2 coats, and when I did it changed to a darker grey leaning towards green/brown.

What a great staple to have in your collection !

OPI's A-Taupe the Space Needle

A-Taupe the Space Needle is a dark army green or the colour of a rich cup of coffee, not really taupe. It is part of the 2011 Fall Touring collection.  The formula was great opaque with 1 coat, but I used 2.  Darker on the nails than in the bottle.

Another great polish from OPI.

Pure Ice's Over You

Over You is an inexpensive glitter I picked up at Walmart for 1.97.  Great application using the dab method over China Glaze's Charmed I'm Sure.  It has a clear base with purple micro glitter, larger turquoise and purple hex & bar glitter.

There are 2 other glitters that came out with this line...might have to go back and pic them up.

Hard Candy's Bite of Black

Bite of Black is a black jelly based polish consisting of silver, blue and dark pink/fuchsia micro glitter.  I achieved full opacity with 3 coats.  It is said to be somewhat of a dupe for Butter London's The Black Knight.

It is a stunner :x  I picked it up at my local Walmart for a couple of dollars.
