#30DaysofColourChallenge - GLITTER

This is a month long swatch challenge for April.  A different manicure every day!

Day 15 is Glitter and I always seem to gravitate to this Deborah Lippmann polish.  It is Let's Go Crazy.  It is is a dark purple-based jelly polish with red, green, blue, gold, light purple and fuchsia glitter of round and hexagon shapes. Coverage is good for a glitter polish, as it is very thick. The glitter actually sits below the surface so it gives the ‘jelly sandwich manicure’ look.

Mani Mondays - Glitter

It's Mani Monday!!  I think the name says it all…very simple; every Monday I will do a themed manicure and will blog about it.

This weeks theme is GLITTER.

Well, I couldn't just pick one glitter, so I picked a light and dark one!  I chose Deborah Lippmann's Let’s Go Crazy and Indie Polish's Finding Dory.

Let's Go Crazy is a dark purple-based jelly polish with red, green, blue, gold, light purple and fuchsia glitter of round and hexagon shapes. Coverage is good for a glitter polish, as it is very thick. The glitter actually sits below the surface so it gives the ‘jelly sandwich manicure’ look.

Finding Dory is a blue and neon yellow micro glitter.  I applied 2 coats after applying 1 coat of Pure Ice in Wild Thing as a base. Initially I thought it was green, but it is definitely a neon yellow. This is like a party on your nails!

Go check out Mani Mondays to see a bunch of cool glitter manicures!  Next week's theme is DOTS!!

I just love the look of this glitter packed polish!

Dupes

I love a lot of the high end polishes, but with the high end polishes comes the high end prices. So…I thought I would look into some dupes for the high end polishes I like.  Here are a couple I've picked up.

The first one is Revlon Scandalous and it seems to be a dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance.  It is a beautiful black jelly based polish that is packed full of purple hex and small glitter.  It was opaque in 3 coats and there was no need to manipulate the glitter for uniform placement, it went on pretty even.

Another very dense pink based glitter I wanted was OPI’s Teenage Dream.  Sally Hansen’s Strobe Light is a dupe.  It would probably be best with a coloured base coat, but I did 3 coats of just glitter and just about achieved opacity.  It would make a great accent nail.

I think if you can save yourself a couple of bucks by going for a dupe, why not!  With the money you save you can buy more nail polish :)
